Championships Race Day:

What a fantastic day for the last day of racing in the 2018 series! We’ve really enjoyed putting on the event and it was great to see so many riders and spectators out there enjoying it as well. It’s good to see riders building their confidence in the sport grade and so impressive to see the number of riders that are taking on the competitive XC MTB tracks in the Championship races. We’re looking forward to seeing you all next year at SINGLETRACKS 2019. Keep training and enjoy your riding!

A massive thanks to the Christchurch Singletrack Club and all of the volunteers that have helped make the racing happen. Around twenty five people helped with timing, registration, course marshalling, and course set up each week. We couldn’t run the races without volunteers, so please let me know if you’re interested in helping for 2019.

A big thanks to our own local rider, and XC superstar, Anton Cooper for coming along
and presenting the trophies to the winners.

Thanks again to Dan Van Asch for letting the club build tracks on his land and allowing these races to happen!

2018 SINGLETRACKS Top Schools:

Schools Trophies

This year we have two Top School awards, one each for the boys racing and the girls racing. The Top School award for boys is decided by the top 10 placings in each age grade (from 13 years – 17 years), with greater weighting on placings from 1st through to 5th. For girls, it’s the top 5 placings, with greater weighting on placings from 1st through to 3rd. They are based on the Canterbury Championships Race. If schools are equal, a decision will be made by a group of officials as to which team has represented their school the best by supporting their riders, presenting themselves as a team, and their interactions with other schools, officials, and spectators throughout the series (not required this year).

Top School – Boys – 2018: 1st Christchurch Boys High School. (2nd CASH, 3rd RAHS)

Top School – Girls – 2018: 1st Cashmere High School. (2nd CGHS, 3rd RNLS)

Congratulations to these schools for taking out the 2018 titles.

A special mention about Rangiora New Life School. This team consistently stood out above all other teams for being a fantastic group of kids that support their riders in every race and represent their school incredibly well. From an organisers perspective it’s amazing to have their involvement and we’re constantly impressed with their team culture. Congratulations James Dean … you lead them well!

2018 Championship Course:

We’ve had around 225 riders compete in the Singletracks 2018 series with a large proportion of those riders competing on the challenging full course in the championship finals. If you’re out at Crocodile XC MTB Park, check out the course and see what it’s like!

Feedback:

We’re constantly looking to improve the schools racing and welcome any feedback or questions. We need to know the things that you liked, and also the things you think we could improve. Please make contact by emailing Murray. murray@singletrack.org.nz

Christchurch Singletrack Club and the SINGLETRACKS series:

This schools series is put together by the Christchurch Singletrack Club which builds the tracks in the Crocodile XC MTB Park and also runs low key club races for all ages, over Spring and Summer. This year we also hosted the South Island race in the National Series.

Each rider in the schools series can take up the offer of a FREE club membership for the 2018/19 season if they would like to. This gives them free entry into the club races run over the summer. If you didn’t put your name down on the list at registration then make contact with rebekah@singletrack.org.nz to receive the information when the next years membership begins.

If you or your school would like to be involved in some track building sessions then please make contact with murray@singletrack.org.nz or craig@singletrack.org.nz
