Canterbury Secondary Schools XC MTB Age Group Championship Races
Races will start at an earlier time of 2.30pm.
REGISTRATION: From 1.45pm at the race base in the upper dog exercise area. (Please note the earlier time)
RACE START: Riders must be ready in the start area at least 10 mins before their race is due to start, ready for race briefing and ranking. Riders will be ranked at the start line based on previous results, with the fastest at the front to minimise the need for passing.
Please direct any questions to Murray (email@example.com).
LAP NUMBERS: The 14/15/16 and 17 year old races are 3 laps. As each age grade race involves riders from A grade, who have raced 3 laps, to D grade, who have raced 2, it is not possible or desirable to have every rider doing 3 laps. There is a cut off time after 2 laps which they will need to meet if they are trying to race 3 laps. This will ideally mean that most people that rode 2 laps through the series will be doing 2 laps in this race. A rider does not have to complete 3 laps if they come in before the cut off time if they are wanting to race 2 laps.
2.30pm – Sport Grade (all ages): 2 laps SINGLETRACKS Core XC Course. Cut of time to start lap 2: 15 minutes. (A note for the girls … depending on numbers riding on the day, you are still able to get on the age group podiums from sport grade … race well!)
2.55pm – Wave 1 – 13 Year Olds, Wave 2 – U13 Year Olds: 2 laps SINGLETRACKS Championship Course. Lap 1: excludes Uppercrust / Murphs and Upload / Download loops. Cut off time to start lap 2: 14 minutes, 30 seconds.
3.25pm – 14 Year Olds: 3 laps SINGLETRACKS Championship Course. Lap 1: excludes Uppercrust / Murphs and Upload / Download loops. Cut off time to start lap 3: 31 minutes.
4.05pm – 15 Year Olds: 3 laps SINGLETRACKS Championship Course. Lap 1: excludes Uppercrust / Murphs and Upload / Download loops. Cut off time to start lap 3: 31 minutes.
4.45pm – 16 / 17 Year Olds: 3 laps SINGLETRACKS Championship Course. Lap 1: excludes Uppercrust / Murphs and Upload / Download loops. Cut off time to start lap 3: 31 minutes.
PRIZE GIVING: approx. 5:50pm. There will be a prize giving at the conclusion of racing and the finalising of results. For early races there is a bit of time to wait around for the prize giving. Get out on the course and support your school, and all of the other riders.
Spot prizes will be given away at the prize giving. To be eligible you must be there! These include Camelbak Packs, Cycleways Gear and Vouchers, Ground Effect Gear, Christchurch Adventure Park half day bundle (with rental, coaching, and lift pass) and 3-uplift passes, and Torpedo 7 vouchers!
AFTERNOON TEA: Please bring along a packet of biscuits or something similar for some snacks before prize giving. There is no kitchen (only a table!) so something simple and easy. Please take them to registration.
WARMING UP: The tracks may be used for warming up before 2.15pm. After this the only available warm up area is the grass section of the upper dog exercise area. There is to be no riding in any other areas of the Halswell Quarry Park.
UNIFORM: Remember you are representing your school so you need to wear your school cycling tops and school (or plain) cycle shorts, or your school sports uniform.
TOILETS: There is a public toilet block in Findlay’s Picnic Area and down in the main quarry car park. Please access these via the track to the car park if you are on a bike. Keep them tidy and clean … we want to be allowed to come back for other races!
RUBBISH: This is a public reserve and it is expected that you take any rubbish away with you. Please leave it tidy so that it can be used for future events.
RESULTS: Full results will be posted on Facebook and the Singletracks Website later in the evening or the following day.
